ProHealth Radiation Oncology, in affiliation with 21st Century Oncology, held a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday. The state-of-the-art cancer treatment center is located at 896 Old Country Road, Riverhead, the former site of P.C. Richard & Son.
Dr. Isamettin Aral is a board certified Radiation Oncologist with 20 years of clinical experience. The new facility brings technology previously only available in western Suffolk and Nassau county, to the east end community.
The central feature of the radiation and oncology suite is the TrueBeam System. According to the ProHealth website, “The Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator integrates imaging and radiation delivery. It can be used to deliver numerous forms of radiotherapy, and gives your doctor the opportunity to tailor your treatment and choose the method that is best for your particular case.”
The office also offers on-board imaging and CT simulation.
ProHealth Radiation Oncology will work with Peconic Bay Medical Center.
“You can’t function in isolation,” said Dr. Aral. This radiation oncology suite is, “about uniformed quality cancer care in one.”
“That’s what I think is really exciting about this facility is an integration of services,” Aral said.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
