Riverhead Cub Scout Pack 242 held the annual Pinewood Derby Saturday at the Riverhead Moose Lodge.
The popular Scouting event spans generations at the Moose Lodge, which sponsors Pack 242.
Santa distributes the cars hewn from blocks of wood, with pre-drilled holes for their axles and wheels, which are also supplied.
"The car cannot weigh more than five ounces, decorated in any design they want," said Pack 242 Cubmaster Brad Harnig.
The event is a fundraiser for the pack, to help support its activities and ensure that all children can participate in field trips, Harnig said.
