2012 0621 mercy play

This weekend, McGann-Mercy Theatre Group presents Noises Off, a comedy by English playwright Michael Frayn about an acting troupe in a production of a farcical sex comedy called Nothing On.

Frayn got the idea for the play as he watched a performance of a farce he had written for the actress Lynn Redgrave. "It was funnier from behind than in front and I thought that one day I must write a farce from behind," he said, according to a CurtainUp review

The cast of the McGann-Mercy production consists of current students and six alumni.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school auditorium, the show starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8 per person and can be purchased at the door.

Editor's note: The opening night show, originally scheduled for Thursday night, was canceled due to the heat wave.
