Passover begins tonight at sunset.
Passover is an eight-day festival celebrated from the 15th through the 22nd day of the Hebrew month of Nissan. It commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Click here for “In a Nutshell: The Passover Story” from Chabad.org.
The holiday is traditionally celebrated with a special meal called a Seder, during which celebrants relive the events leading up to the emancipation of the Israelites.
In observance of the holiday, Temple Israel of Riverhead is hosting a community Seder tonight at 6:30 (advance reservations by March 31 were required.) Services will be held tomorrow and Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and next Monday at 8:30 a.m. Services and Yizkor: Tuesday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. All morning services will be followed by breakfast.
Visit Chabad.org for information about the holiday, its history and modern-day celebrations.
Happy Passover!
