To the Editor:
On behalf of the men and women of the Riverhead Police Benevolent Association, I am writing a remembrance for our good friend. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye. On December 28, 2011, a long time Public Safety Dispatcher, Vincent “Tony” Artale, passed away at the age of 51; he served the residents of this town for over 25 years. He was committed to working midnight tours and was dedicated to answering emergency 911 and police officers’ calls. Tony truly loved his family at home and his “family” at the Riverhead Police Department. He was a man who really cared about the people he worked with everyday, especially the safety of “his” police officers. Unfortunately we will never again hear “Riverhead Town Police 304” when anyone calls the Riverhead Police Department. You left your mark on us and will be truly missed, Tony. Thank You!
