Incident: Brentwood man arrested for robbing salon after attempting to rob bank

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Brentwood man for robbing a beauty salon in Bay Shore shortly after he attempted to rob a bank in Bay Shore.

Anthony Jannace, 54, entered Citibank, located at 77 East Main St., Bay Shore, at 12:30 p.m. and gave the teller a handwritten note demanding cash. The teller did not comply with Jannace’s demands, and he fled the bank without proceeds. At 1:55 p.m., Jannace entered the Salon Astarte located at 95 West Main St., Bay Shore, and verbally demanded cash from an employee. The employee complied with Jannace’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer.
Suffolk County Police Canine Officer Mark Sacco located Jannace on Mechanicsville Road, Bay Shore, at 3:24 p.m. and placed him under arrest. Suffolk County Detectives charged Jannace, of 998 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood, with one count of Robbery 3rd Degree and one count of Attempted Robbery.
Jannace will be held overnight at the 3rd Precinct in Bay Shore. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on June 27.
