The daughter of a Southold Town trustee drowned in a backyard pool Tuesday.

Heather Domino, 23, of Greenport, was found unconscious in a swimming pool on Old North Road in Southold just before 6 p.m. July 31, according to Southold police.

Police and members of the Southold Fire Department recovered her body from the pool and attempted to resuscitate her, police said. She was taken by ambulance to Eastern Long Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She is the daughter of Southold trustee and environmental activist Michael Domino of Southold. He lives next door to the home where the drowning occurred.

Police said her death is under investigation.
