Southampton Town Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed the TD Bank on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays on Monday, Sept. 10.

Police dispatchers received a panic alarm at around 4:40 p.m. from TD Bank located at 191 West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. A second 911 call came in shortly afterwards from a teller at TD Bank stating that they had just been robbed, according to a police press release.

Police said they arrived on scene within minutes and searched the area with the assistance of a N.Y. State Police K-9 Unit, but the robber had fled the area.

2012 0911 td bank robbery 2The suspect was described by police as a 6’1″ black male, approximately 25-35 years old, with a goatee, having a stocky build, and wearing a red short-sleeved T-shirt, dark shorts, a gray NY Yankees baseball hat with a red NY Yankee symbol, and sunglasses.

Police said the robber entered the bank during normal business hours, went to an available teller, and presented a note demanding cash. In the note he indicated that he had a weapon, according to the police report. The teller complied and after the man was given cash, he fled on foot. He was last seen heading south on East Tiana Road. No one was injured in the commission of the crime.
