2012 0704 fireworks

The downtown riverfront was jammed for Tuesday night's concert and fireworks show.

Organizers of the event estimated the attendance at more than 2,000 people.  The Johnny Zarrow Band and Misspent Youth performed classic rock, blues and R&B.

Tuesday's concert was opening night for a two-day bash sponsored by the Riverhead BID to celebrate America's 236th birthday.  

Tonight's free concert: The Blues Brotherhood, a Blues Brothers tribute band. The show starts at 7 p.m. Bring your own chair — and don't forget your sunglasses.

2012 0702 living water independence day

"God Bless the USA," an Independence Day celebration produced by Living Water Church packed the house for two shows Sunday afternoon and evening.

2012 0701 greaseband fpss

More than 400 people came out to listen to The Fabulous Greaseband, which performed Saturday night at Polonaise Park in Polish Town.

The event was hosted by and benefitted the Polish Town Civic Association. Tickets were $20 in advance and $25 at the door. The concert ran from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The Fabulous Greaseband is a seven-member group that plays the rock 'n' roll party and dance hits of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's, according to greaseband.com.

2012 0702 rebels lax pig roast

A pig roast picnic to benefit the East End Rebels girls traveling lacross team at the Goodale farm in Aquebogue Sunday drew friends and supporters for an old fashioned  "down on the farm" good time.
