The Flanders Fire Department honored top-responding firefighters and announced the firefighter of the year at its 65th annual inspection dinner last Saturday night. Members were also awarded for milestones in their years of service.

Bolt Bus holds networking event to promote bus service and Hilton Garden Inn

Laughter, music and food filled Riverhead's Hilton Garden Inn Wednesday afternoon as local business representatives, government officials and community members gathered for a free event called "Wheels, Wine and Networking."

The evening get-together was held between 6 and 9 p.m. Wednesday partly in effort to raise awareness about the transportation services BoltBus has been providing East End residents since last December, including commuter trips between Riverhead and Manhattan.

Hundreds of people turned out to the Peconic Riverfront to enjoy live music, browse street vendors and see two parking lots full of classic cars and motorcycles in Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter's "Hogs and Hot Rods Rock the Shelter" event Sunday afternoon.

Some in attendance had their minds on other things, like homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Easter Bunny a big hit for RFD breakfast

Riverhead Fire Department's Ironmen Drill Team's first-ever Easter Bunny breakfast Sunday morning was a big hit with the kids, drawing a couple hundred people to the firehouse for pancakes, eggs, bacon and kielbasa and a chance to pose for pictures with Peter Cottontail himself.
