A story published on Dec. 18, 2012 incorrectly stated there were no public hearings scheduled for the town board meeting to be held that evening.

There was one public hearing scheduled and held on a proposed local law amending Chapter 108 of the Riverhead town code ("Zoning") to allow health club facilities in the light industrial zoning use district.

A report published Dec. 18, 2012 of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of the LIE exit ramp and Edwards Avenue incorrectly stated the direction of travel of the vehicles involved in the crash.

The vehicle exiting the LIE was the Honda sedan and the vehicle traveling southbound on Edwards Avenue was the SUV.

The driver of the Honda later succumbed to her injuries. See story.

In "Romaine to seek Brookhaven supervisor post, potentially leaving 1st LD up for grabs," published Aug. 20, incorrectly identified Marc Alessi and Vivian Viloria-Fisher as possible candidates for the First Legislative District seat that would become vacant should current Legislator Ed Romaine be elected Brookhaven Town supervisor. Alessi and Viloria-Fisher were mentioned as possible Democratic candidates for supervisor, not legislature.

In an Aug. 3 article, "Riverhead athlete vaults his way into Junior Olympic Track and Field national meet," we incorrectly reported that Jonah Spaeth was the only Riverhead High School student to participate in the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics in Baltimore last month.

Anthony Mammina participated in the event and placed fourth in the 800-meter ambulatory race. See story, "One Riverhead athlete's very special success story."

We regret the error.

The Riverhead Police Blotter covering the period Apri 6-8, 2012 (published April 15) incorrectly stated Stuart Daccus was "charged" with larceny in connection with the alleged unauthorized use of a credit card.

The April 6 police blotter entry said a Riverhead police officer "stated" Daccus used a complainant's credit card without authorization and the matter was turned over to the detective division for investigation.

Daccus was not arrested or charged by Riverhead police. The entry in the April 6 police blotter contained the allegation of another party rather than a charge brought by police. No larceny charge was brought against Daccus as a result of the incident.

RiverheadLOCAL regrets the error and we apologize to Mr. Daccus for the incorrect report.

Show me the money: highway chief demands accounting of fund transfers

The article published Oct. 28 incorrectly stated the transfer amounts from the highway department to the general fund in the years 2004-2007.

No funds were transferred from the highway fund to the general fund in those years. Fiscal year 2008 was the first time the budget transferred an amount from the highway fund to the general fund. (The numbers reported in the article published Oct. 28 were actually the amounts transferred from the water district to the general fund for 2004-2007.)

RiverheadLocal regrets the error.
