Peconic Bay Medical Center’s LI2Day Walk Team will once again be participating in the Long Island 2 Day Walk to support breast cancer and other women’s cancer patients right here on Long Island.

In order to raise the necessary funds to support this cause, they will be hosting a Chinese Auction/Dinner on April 24, 2014 at the Hyatt Place, Riverhead. Doors open at 6pm. One hundred percent of the money raised here stays right here on Long Island! Peconic Bay Medical Center has been a beneficiary of this event in the past. Peconic Bay Medical Center’s NYSDOH Cancer Services Program of Suffolk County was a proud beneficiary of $28,900 from the 2013 Long Island 2 Day Walk To Fight Breast Cancer, for their participation in the two-day, 35 mile walk to raise awareness and funding for the fight against breast cancer on Long Island. The funds received benefit members of the community.

This year’s walk will be held on June 7, 2014. The one-day half marathon (13.1 miles) encourages awareness for the fight against breast cancer and other women’s cancers, celebrates survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

The LI2Day, since it’s concept in 2004, has raised over $4 MILLION to assist Long Islanders with medical expenses, transportation, prosthetics and wigs, physical therapy, childcare, research and education. Since the inception of the LI2Day Scholarship Fund in 2005, over $105,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors residing in Nassau and Suffolk Counties who have a parent or guardian who has had breast cancer. LI2Day has also expanded its mission to include bringing awareness and funding to other women’s cancers. Through LI2Day’s diverse beneficiary organizations they are helping women, men and their families have a fighting chance.
