Peppaceno wins a Teeny

0607_peppaceno(VIDEO) Riverhead High School sophomore Stephen Peppaceno won a Teeny Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his performance in the role of Joe Vegas in the Blue Masques' production of 'Fame' this spring. Peppaceno was the only Blue Masques player to take home a Teeny Award at this year's ceremony, held at Riverhead High School June 6.

The Teeny Awards are presented by the East End Arts Council to recognize student excellence in school theater. Theatrical productions presented by the 14 participating East End high schools were attended by a panel of volunteer judges. Evaluations of students were based on skill demonstrated in movement (physical expression, gesture, posture, fluidity), delivery (projection, articulation, interaction, timing, expression), and stage presence (confident, believable, enthusiastic, charismatic, dynamic). Evaluation of performances in musical productions include skills in singing (intonation, range, interpretation, phrasing, rhythm, articulation, ensemble work) and dancing (technique, fluidity, expression, gesture, ensemble work).The top five scoring students were nominated for awards in each cagtegory. Each winner received a glass trophy and a $200 scholarship.

JUDGES’ CHOICE AWARD
This award is chosen by the judges in a vote. It is for a particular scene, musical number, dance number, ensemble effort, or group that the judges feel stands out enough to warrant the special merit. This year, the recipient of the Judges’ Choice Award is the Barbershop Quartet from "The Music Man" by Westhampton Beach High School, comprised of Kyle Higgins, Aidan Marsicovetere, Luke Nilsson, and Christian Thienel.
