Louie's Auto Repair beat Sujecki Farms & Nursery 11-7 to claim the 2010 men's "fun league" softball championship last night at Stotzky Park.
Sujecki Farms & Nursery came out swinging hard, and held a 6-2 lead till late in the game. Louie's Auto Repair eventually found their bats and pulled ahead and prevailed with the win! Defending their 2009 title!
The "Fun League" consists of a total of eight teams in Riverhead Town and is supported by local businesses and organizations. The league was created, as the name of the league suggests, for fun and makes for a great opportunity to play good sandlot softball and carry bragging rights until the next season.

The 11th Annual Riverhead Railroad Festival is going on this weekend on the grounds of the Railroad Museum of Long Island on Griffing Avenue.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Riverhead train station, which opened June 10, 2010. It replaced a wooden structure on the site, that had been built in 1870. Festival activities Saturday included a rededication ceremony for the 100-year-old brick building, which, though restored by the Long Island Railroad in the early 2000s, has not been used as a ticket office in many years.
On display at the festival are historic railcars, cabooses and speeders, with vendors, refreshments, music and rides aboard the 1964 World's Fair LIRR pavilion train and the Greenport "Scoot."
Festival continues today, Sunday, Aug. 29. 10 am to 4 pm. Admission $6; children age 5-12, $3; children under 5, free. "Scoot" tickets sold separately.
Riverhead High School varsity cheerleaders held a car wash on Saturday, Aug. 28 at the Gulf Station on Route 25 in Calverton to raise money for uniforms and competition expenses.
