Riverhead Auctioneer Jim McBurnie is auctioning off the North Fork Preserve's farm, nursery, skeet and shooting equipment this morning.

Hundreds of people packed the barn where McBurnie is selling everything from classic flatbed trucks to framed prints from the Preserve's clubhouse.

Suffolk County purchased the 307-acre Soundfront parcel for $17.73 million in November. It plans to develop the site as active parkland, featuring a campground, trails and equestrian uses. Riverhead Town partnered in the acquisition with a contribution of $475,465, drawn on its Community Preservation Fund.
