Riverhead highway crews are paving Dolphin Way and repairing sections of Sound Avenue Wednesday.
The road will be closed to traffic while the paving work is done, Riverhead Highway Superintendent George Woodson said.
Highway department contractors are also working Wednesday on milling and filling about 10 trouble spots on Sound Avenue, between Edwards Avenue and the Southold Town line, Woodson said. The work is being done on spots that highway crews have to repeatedly patch, he said. This will be a more durable repair, the highway superintendent said.
Sound Avenue will remain open to traffic, but there may be lane closures where the work is underaway, and there will be flag men in the roadway.
"Please slow down and use extra caution in these areas," Woodson said.
