Rain didn't deter more than 200 athletes from taking on the first Deep Pond Triathlon this morning in Wading River.

Tom Eickelberg, 23, of Babylon (pictured, left) came in first with a time of 1:00:22.72 seconds.
Glen Cove resident Peter Ventura (pictured, right) came in second at 1:04:32:78m and Andy Powell of Marcellus, N.Y. finished third in 1:04:50.37.
Patti Thorp, 54, of Boston, was the first woman to cross the finish line at 1:15:19.02.
Today's sprint triathlon included a 750-meter swim in the 40-acre Deep Pond on the Schiff Boy Scout camp, a 13-mile bike ride that included a ride up and down one of the runways at the former Grumman site, and a 3.1 mile run through Wading River.
A youth triathlon is scheduled for tomorrow, with senior and junior divisions competing. Registration for the youth event was sold out 10 days ago.
Deep Pond Triathlon was produced by Competitive Events. Race director Justin Schwartz said he was pleased with the turnout and expected the event to return next year.
Most of the net proceeds of the event will be donated to Boy Scouts of America, Competitive Events said in a press release.
