Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School graduated its Class of 2015 yesterday with a graduation liturgy and commencement ceremony at the high school.
Bishop William Murphy conferred diplomas to the 86 members of the class. Principal Carl Semmler and assistant principal Lisa Navarra presented academic honors and medals. Valedictorian Elison Louis of Mastic and salutatorian Magdalena Duda of Riverhead addressed the class.
Members of the Class of 2015 live in towns from all over eastern Suffolk County, from Montauk and Greenport on the east to Patchogue and Port Jefferson on the west. The students received more than $12.4 million in scholarship offers and 100 percent of graduates will pursue post-secondary studies or serve in the military, according to a press release issued by the school Wednesday night.
The Catholic junior-senior high school in Riverhead has approximately 500 students enrolled in grades 7-12. It has been distinguished by the United States Department of Education as a National School of Excellence and is accredited by the Middle States Association.
