Phillips Avenue Elementary School had a special visitor today: the actress Goldie Hawn.
Hawn, whose foundation created the MindUP program being used at the Phillips Avenue school, visited classrooms and spoke with children and teachers.
Phillips Avenue teachers posted photos and video of Hawn’s visit on Facebook and Twitter. The school district posted a photo of Hawn with students and Phillips principal Debra Rodgers on the district’s new Facebook page.

MindUP is a mindfulness-based curriculum and framework for learning in use across the globe.
“The skills and the mindfulness practices that we are teaching have helped our children improve learning and academic performance and learn valuable social and emotional skills that build personal resilience for a lifetime,” Hawn says on the MindUP website.
Hawn visited the Riverside school because she saw a tweet by one of its classroom teachers, Phillips Avenue teacher Danielle Good said.
The Academy Award-winning actress established the nonprofit Hawn Foundation in 2003.
