There will be a graveside service for former Riverhead resident Barbara A. Blasl on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Cemetery in Riverhead.
Blasl passed away Dec. 22, 2009 in Charlotte, N.C. at the age of 50. A memorial Mass was held Dec. 29, 2009 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, N.C. A private cremation followed.
She was born in Riverhead Jan. 12, 1959, to Nicholas and Valestina Spano. she grew up in Flanders and attended St. John's School and Riverhead High School, from which she graduated in 1977.
She married Charles A. Blasl Jr. on Jan. 13, 1979. They lived and raised their three children in Riverhead. She moved with her family to Cornelius, N.C., in 2006.
Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by her husband and children, Brian, Amy and Sara; and by her brothers, Nicholas, Richard, Anthony and Joseph Spano, and by her sisters, Mary Spano, Ann Mills, Theresa Reyer, Joan Plaster and Susan Trent.
The family plans a memorial celebration of Barbara Blasl's life at a later date this year in Riverhead.
