David W. Flynn Sr., of Riverhead, died Aug. 15, 2013. He was 77 years old.

Born in Southampton on Nov. 7, 1935, he was the son of Victoria (Lockowitz) and David Fred Flynn.

He served in the U.S. Navy in 1954-1955 and was employed by the Grumman Corporation in Calverton.

Predeceased by his step-daughters, Carol Porter and Winnie Kess, earlier this year, he is survived by his wife, Beverly McKavish-Flynn (nee Bennett); son David Flynn Jr. of Georgia; step-sons John McKavish and Billy McKavish, of Riverhead; daughters, Karen Ratcliff, of Flanders, and Theresa Flynn, of Flanders; and by his step-daughters, Katherine Porter, of Riverhead and Evelyn Conklin, of Mattituck. He is also survived by his brother, James Flynn and his sister, Barbara Robinson, and by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home, 406 East Main St., Riverhead. A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at Riverhead Cemetery.
