More than 400 people from the Phillips Avenue Elementary School community attended a pancake breakfast at the school Wednesday morning.

Breakfast was made and served by members of the Riverhead school board and administration.

"It's really nice to see the whole community come out," Riverhead schools superintendent Nancy Carney said as she served pancakes and sausages to Phillips Avenue children and their families.

She was joined by Board of Education president Ann Cotten-DeGrasse, vice president Greg Meyer, and assistant superintendents Lois Etzel and Sam Schneider.

Phillips Avenue principal Debra Rodgers said she was very pleased by the turnout for this annual event, which underscores how the elementary school community is truly a family.
