Hi Race Fans, its that time of the year again for another season of racing. I got my oil changed and my brake pads are fresh, so lets get to the action.
In the first race, a 20 lap Super Pro Truck race. The race started with Erin Dumicich in the #95 truck led the all 20 laps of the entire race with dad Frank N. Dumicich in the #5 truck was second, and rounding out the field was Mike Albasini in the #66 truck. The race was quick and accident free.
The second race, we had a 20 lap Legends race, 32 cars filled the track. Out of the gate, Kevin Nowack in #53 lead with #63 Dylan Slepian a close second. In turn 3 of Lap 5 Slepian bumped Nowack, sending the leader into a spin. Slepian was moved to the rear of the pack for rough riding. That moved Chris Rogers in the #00 car out front with Kyle Elwood In the #71 car a close second. After 4 laps, Elwood took the lead. There were battles for the lead form other drivers throughout the entire race but in the end Riverhead High School student Kyle Elwood finished first. His second career win and first of 2012.
The third race, a 20 lap Blunderbust feature with a 25 car field was next. The race started with #3 car driven by Brian Hansen hitting the wall in lap 2, that opened up a mini 4 lap back and fourth duel between Joe Seeger #33 and Paul Parisi #69X, with Seeger going into the wall in lap 10. Moving from the 14th spot is the "wild child" Tommy Walkowiak driving #00, passing Parisi #69X and staying in first the remainder of the race for his 50th win. Presenting the trophy was Barbara & Jim Cromarty, owners of Riverhead Raceway.
In the fourth race, a 20 lap Charger race, CJ Lehmann in the #! car went wire to wire in a caution free race. Lehmann did have to fight off the constant challenges from Ray Minieri in the #43 car.
The fifth race, a Late Model 25 lap event, a hard fought race was witnessed by all. Chris LaSpisa in the #7 car and Roger Oxee in the #39 car battled back and fourth until the 7th lap when Oxee made his move and into the lead. LaSpisa was second until lap 9 when Peter "Buzzy" Erikson #68 moved into second behind Oxee #39 and the two battled for the lead. That came to an end in lap 18 when Erikson #68 nudged Oxee #39 into the wall in turn 1. The new lineup after the yellow caution moved #10 Scott Kulesa to the front, Eriksen #68 to the back of the field. Kulesa #10, held the lead from a late charging Mke Bologna #00. The win went to Scott Kalisa #10.
The sixth race, a 30 lap Twin Modified NASCAR race set the field for 22 cars. A small 4 car pile up in turn 3 & 4 on lap 2 sent out the yellow caution flag. In the 8th lap a pile up in turn 2 caused the #99 car driven by Timmy Solomito to crash, bringing out the eve ready field crew to once agin clean up the mess. There was a small battle between #98 Dave Brigati & #66 Shawn Solomito, opening a path for Tom Rogers Jr. in #9 to move ahead of Solomito #66 and into the lead. There were intense battles during both races but in the end, Tom Rogers Jr. #9 swept both for the victory.
In the final race, a 15 Lap Figure Eight race, Mike Mujsce led all 15 laps for the win, his 12th career win.
