Who We Are
RiverheadLOCAL.com is an independent community news website founded in 2010 for Riverhead, L.I., N.Y.
It is the collaborative effort of a husband-and-wife team of journalists: Peter Blasl, lifelong Riverhead resident and award-winning photographer, and Denise Civiletti, award-winning journalist, editor and former newspaper publisher.
Their vision is to create a home on the web for Riverhead, where people who live in Riverhead (as well as those who’ve moved away but want to know what’s going on “back home”) can find out the latest news, follow local sports, learn about the community they call home, connect with other people who live and work in Riverhead, share experiences, pictures and memories — and, if they’d like, promote their businesses.
RiverheadLOCAL started because Peter and Denise love their hometown and want to see it thrive.
