Six Riverhead Blue Waves varsity wrestlers competed in the county championships at Stony Brook University this weekend.
Senior Christian Krumbiegel (130) and sophomore Ethan Zaweski (103) who finished in first place and won league titles at the Suffolk County League IV tournament Feb. 5, and second-place finishers Ryan Gevenski (96), Pat Thomas (135), Gabe Rice (140) and Mario Carrera (160) all wrestled at Stony Brook on Sunday.
Only Rice (27-7) and Carrera (24-6) earned the right to return on Monday for wrestlebacks, but neither boy made it to the semifinals.
