Police said Terry, wearing a hat, sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt, entered the Riverhead bank at about 10:30 on the morning of Thursday, March 19 and handed the teller a note demanding cash. She was given an undisclosed amount of money and then fled southbound on foot, according to a police report on the day of the robbery. Police searched the area with K9 and aviation units.

Terry entered the Chase Bank branch at about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, “threatened the teller with a note and demanded money,” according to Southampton police. She was given cash and then fled the scene. The suspect matched the description of the woman who robbed the Riverhead bank in March, police said.

Southampton and Riverhead detectives, with the assistance of New York State Police and Southampton Village detectives, and utilizing video surveillance, identified Terry as the perpetrator of both crimes, according to the press release.

On Friday afternoon at about 2 o’clock, state troopers initiated a traffic stop of Terry, who was driving on Tadd Road in Southampton, according to the police report. Terry was taken into custody by troopers and charged by Southampton police in the Hampton Bays bank robbery. She is expected to be formally charged in Riverhead Justice Court today.

The investigation is continuing, police said. They ask anyone with information on these incidents, to contact Southampton Town detectives, at 631-702-2230 or Riverhead Town Detectives at 631-727-4500.
